Is it called Shahi Snan or Amrit Snan?

Both names are used for the royal bath of the akhadas. Official announcements for this Kumbh now use the term Amrit Snan; many people still say Shahi Snan.

Why is it called Simhastha Kumbh?

In Hindu tradition the Kumbh at Nashik-Trimbakeshwar is held when Jupiter (Guru) is in Leo (Simha), which is why it is called Simhastha. It comes around about once every twelve years.
