Short answer: Stay in Nashik close to Panchavati and Ramkund if you want to be near the main ghats, near Nashik Road station if you arrive by train, or in Trimbakeshwar if your plans centre on the Jyotirlinga and Kushavarta Kund. Book early, because rooms fill quickly around the bathing days, and use only trusted booking channels.

Where to Stay in Nashik

  • Panchavati and the old city: the most convenient area for Ramkund, the Kalaram Temple and the ghats. It is also the busiest and most crowded area on bathing days, and roads nearby may be closed.
  • Near Nashik Road station: practical if you arrive or leave by train. It is a few kilometres from the ghats, so you need an auto or taxi, and it is close to the Muktidham Temple. See how to reach Nashik.
  • Elsewhere in the city: quieter and often easier to book, but you will need to plan your daily travel to the ghats.

Staying in Trimbakeshwar

Trimbakeshwar is about 28 to 30 km from Nashik city. Staying there makes sense if you want early darshan of the Jyotirlinga or an early bath at Kushavarta Kund. Rooms are limited and the town becomes very crowded on the Trimbakeshwar bathing day, so book as early as you can. See our Trimbakeshwar guide.

Hotels, Dharamshalas and Tent Cities

Pilgrims usually choose between hotels, dharamshalas (pilgrim lodges) and ashrams. News reports say the Kumbh authority has also drafted a framework that allows private landowners to run temporary tent cities for pilgrims during the Kumbh. The details are still developing, so wait for official announcements before relying on any tent-city offer.

Booking Tips

  • Book early for the main days: 2 August, 31 August, 11 September and 12 September 2027. See the schedule.
  • Check the cancellation policy, and keep the confirmation message and a printout.
  • Be careful with unofficial websites and social media offers. Do not pay a large advance to an unknown sender, and confirm the property by phone or through a trusted platform first.
  • Ask how far the stay is from the ghats, and how you will travel on the day when roads are closed.
  • Read our packing list and watch the updates page for official arrangements.
