Short answer: Pack light and plan for rain. The main bathing days of the 2027 Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela fall in August and September, in the monsoon, so carry rain protection, comfortable footwear, drinking water, your ID and a phone with a power bank. Leave valuables at home.
Documents and Money
- A government photo ID for every adult, and copies in your phone.
- Your train, bus or stay bookings, saved as screenshots in case the network is slow.
- A small amount of cash in small notes, and one UPI-enabled phone. Keep cash in more than one place.
- A card with your name, your group leader's phone number and your stay address, for elders and children.
Clothes and Footwear
- Light cotton clothes that dry quickly, plus one spare set in a waterproof bag.
- A raincoat or poncho. Umbrellas can be difficult in dense crowds.
- Footwear with a good grip, such as sandals that stay on your feet. Rocks and ghat steps are slippery when wet.
- Modest clothes for temples, and a towel or cloth for bathing.
Health and Comfort
- A refillable water bottle and some dry snacks.
- Your regular medicines, glucose or ORS, and a basic first-aid kit with pain relief and band-aids.
- Hand sanitiser, tissues and a small torch.
- A power bank and a charging cable.
What to Leave at Home
- Jewellery and expensive items, which are easy to lose in crowds.
- Large bags. A small backpack or a cross-body bag is easier to carry through crowds.
- Anything that authorities say is not allowed. Rules for bathing days will be announced officially, so read the notices on our updates page before you travel. See the prohibited items list.
Safety Tips for Bathing Days
- Agree on a meeting point in case your group gets separated.
- Go early, and follow the police and volunteers at every step.
- Bathe only in the marked areas, and keep children and elders close.
The main Amrit Snan days are 2 August, 31 August, 11 September and 12 September 2027. Read what the day involves in our Amrit Snan guide, see the schedule, and plan the bathing with Ramkund in mind. For the journey, see how to reach Nashik.
