Short answer: Trimbakeshwar is about 28 to 30 km from Nashik city, and most pilgrims travel between the two by state transport bus or taxi. During the 2015 Kumbh, state buses ran to Trimbakeshwar from Nashik's Central Bus Stand, and similar arrangements are likely in 2027, but you should wait for the official announcements. Plan extra time on the bathing days.

Why Two Places?

The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha has two bathing sites: Ramkund in Nashik, and Kushavarta Kund in Trimbakeshwar. Many pilgrims visit both. Read our guides to Ramkund and Trimbakeshwar before you plan.

By Bus

State transport (MSRTC) buses are the usual low-cost choice between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. In 2015, a fleet of buses ran from Nashik's Central Bus Stand to Trimbakeshwar for the Kumbh. Expect long queues on the main days, and ask at the bus stand or on official notices for the current routes and timings.

By Taxi, Auto or Private Vehicle

Taxis and private vehicles give more flexibility, but roads to Trimbakeshwar can become heavy with traffic during the Kumbh. On the main bathing days, vehicles may be stopped at parking areas some distance from the temple, so you may need to walk the last part. Agree on the fare and the pick-up point before you start.

How Long Will It Take?

On a normal day the drive takes around an hour or a little more. During the Kumbh, delays are likely, so leave early and keep plenty of time for the return journey, especially if you plan to come back the same day.
