Short answer: The easiest way to reach Nashik for the 2027-28 Simhastha Kumbh Mela is by train to Nashik Road railway station, on the main Mumbai line. Nashik is about 165 km from Mumbai and about 210 km from Pune by road. Trimbakeshwar is roughly 28 to 30 km further from Nashik city.
By Train
Nashik Road is the main railway station for Nashik and is served by many trains from Mumbai and other cities. It is a few kilometres from the old city, so plan an auto, taxi or bus for the last stretch to Panchavati and Ramkund. Trains fill up fast around the main bathing days, so book as early as the railway allows.
By Road
Nashik is on the Mumbai-Agra highway, and the drive from Mumbai usually takes about three to four hours, depending on traffic. Buses run from Mumbai, Pune and many Maharashtra towns. On Amrit Snan days expect traffic diversions near the ghats, so keep extra time.
By Air
Nashik has a small airport at Ozar, a short drive outside the city, but flights are limited. Many pilgrims fly into Mumbai or Pune and continue by train or road. Check current flight options before you plan.
Getting to Trimbakeshwar
Trimbakeshwar, home of the Jyotirlinga and Kushavarta Kund, is roughly 28 to 30 km from Nashik city. Most visitors go by road from Nashik. See our Trimbakeshwar guide for what to see there.
